Whilst i don’t have any immediate suggestions on this, i do feel that the ‘Join an alliance’ or ‘leave an alliance’ to dodge wardecs does need looking at.
The problem lies, in my opinion, with changing it in a way that does not help people grief players too much more.

I like the idea of “no new timer” related to war deccing individual corps that leave an alliance that you already have decced if that new war dec is declared within 24 hours of them leaving. Otherwise, business as usual.

Considering the amount of discussion around war dec mechanics, the playerbase obviously thinks they are broken in a lot of ways–but how many of the ones crying about it are the ones who don’t wish to engage in PvP and like to howl that they are being griefed by war decs?

Some of us see war decs as a profit opportunity, not a PvP opportunity. For such cases, it would be nice if there was an “extortion” mechanic such that the deccing corp could submit a demand via a button or something for payment to end the war dec. That demand is then submitted to the decced corp/alliance as a special kind of bill. If they choose to pay it, the ISK goes to the deccing Corp/Alliance wallet and the dec is immediately removed with no cooldown. This idea is just off the top of my head so there are probably plenty of holes in it, but I’d like to see more extortion mechanics built into the game.

I fully agree that when an alliance initiates the war dec that any member corps that leave should keep the war dec status. The initiator should not have the option to play timer games. (period)

In this case Agony was war dec’d by someone else, we did not do the war dec.

Right now it seems awfully convoluted. Plus why do corporations have to vote on a war dec but alliances don’t?

I like Myxnee’s idea on the pay-off mechanic. It’s Eve like – would be rather straightforward to implement and would provide a way out for a corp
that just doesn’t want to get involved with PvP – but one that would come
with a price tag attached.

However – now that I am thinking about it more, the choice would be provided
by the decc’ng alliance – which means that perhaps there should be a
mechanism where the choice is always present – but at cost.

Maybe something to the effect that a corp leaving a war-decc’d alliance
could purchase CONCORD security services at a cost ratio’d to that corps
overall worth?

I’ll give you my opinion on wardecs.I have been playing Eve for about 3 months now, and I’ve been with one corporation almost the entire time. My corp consists largely of young characters, only a couple have played for more than a year. We like to recruit new players, teach them the basics, help them bring up their standing and so on. We are mostly mission runners, miners and traders. Piracy, scamming, can flipping and so on will get you kicked out without delay.

In the past couple of months, we’ve been wardeced 4 times by 3 different corps. We have very little pvp experience and not enough money to hire mercenaries. We’ve still done pretty well and the morale is always high, but, needless to say, we’ve a lot of ships. I don’t know how this last war that’s about to start will affect us, but I do worry that some of our members will just have had enough. And I don’t blame them. How do you make money as a newbie when guys with 50 million plus skillpoints are chasing you around all the time?

I’m not here to complain, I get that it’s part of the game. I just wish it wouldn’t be so easy and cheep to take away CONCORD’s protection from another corp. I think that for a wardec to be valid in hisec space the wardecing corp should have to pay the other corp 50 or 100 million ISK, or something like that. That’s all. Thank you for your attention.

I have been floating around with Eve University for around a year now, and we have the problem of faildecs. Seeing as it is a training corporation of over 1000 pilots, being wardeced is a great learning experience, problem is that most war targets will just stay in station for the week. Especially if its just 10 pilots attacking and have not realized that we just blob etc…

The way i see it, one way to easily improve the war dec system, would be to

a) weekly cost is proportional to pilots involved. The whole cost thing is supposed to be a bribe so surely the more people involved, the higher the bribe should be

b) the cost needs to promote similar sized corps i.e. small corps attacking big corps, and big corps attacking little corps should be charged alot as generally speaking, in high sec, this is frequently griefing

c) if the war dec is mutual then say half the cost

all this wouldnt affect the big corps trying to attack high sec supply chains as to be honest, they should be able to afford it

i do think that the dec system needs to be brought up at the csm and ccp as it really is hugely broken and way to simple.
