It is an interesting idea in principle because it fits into the sandbox and opens up the ability for corruption in concord amongst other things.

However I’m not sure at this point how such a system could be made to work without effectively turning empire into an extension of lowsec or becoming a major tool for griefing. Whilst this in itself would be fine it wouldn’t gel with the semi secure nature of empire (where you might get attacked but there is a chance you might survive if concord arrive in time and at least they will lose their ship(s) in the process).

Currently Concord attend every incident with a set delay based on the system security and when they land they destroy the naughty pilot(s); it is harder to gank in some systems than others but it is possible.

I don’t think CCP would be happy for players to be instantly transported to a hot spot (though there could be some kind of jump bridge mechanism) which could mean less security for people in highsec. This is made worse if the NPC concord are reduced in power so they become more like tacklers just waiting for players to arrive and finish off the naughty pilot.

There could be a place for player Concord pilots patrolling known hotspots where they could be on site before NPC Concord (0.5 space for example).

I’m open to the idea as long as it doesn’t unbalance empire space too badly. I’d love to see a detailed proposal and discuss this topic further 🙂

@Rambie Firstly I don’t think local in Empire should be in delayed mode, at least not until a working system is in place and tested in 0.0 and possibly Lowsec.

Secondly I understand this is a complex issue and it will take more than one or two people to work out all the details, thus I am not saying I have all the answers at this point such as how long a delay and what new intel tools should be available.

I have written a fair bit about this over the past few days on my Jita Park campaign thread and will do a full blog post in the next couple of days because people are (rightly) picking me up on it 😉

With that out of the way, what is the issue with local as it is?

Currently local is a one size fits all general purpose intel tool that just happens to allow players to smacktalk, spam and post ascii art as a side effect 😉

The second a player appears in local (and before they have even loaded let alone decloaked) people in that system know there is a new person and can instantly find their name, corp and alliance.

I feel this isn’t right, especially with regard to covert ships and black ops portals. But I appreciate local is also used by scouts to find out if there are people in system and thus if it is worth hunting for them.

So short answer is that delayed local in 0.0 could open up fun new tactics but there needs to be a large amount of discussion and balancing before anything can be changed.
