Oddly enough I’m not as tripped about the low voter turnout – I mean, what else is new in politics. Sure – put some effort into raising CSM awareness and voter turnout but I wouldn’t turn on my afterburners on it. heh.

I hope to spend more time on CSM forums as well now that elections are over. And add my 2 cents worth of input when I can – in-between actually playing Eve (I guess I include my meta activities as Eve playing).

I hope CSM brings up some of the communication issues that occurred in the pre-release dev blogs with Dominion – most markedly in regards to the CAP ship changes & also SOV. I think there were a good number of players that were very upset and I felt the response by CCP did not recognize that enough – and there were some surprising errors posted by CCP in regards to the CAP ship dev BLOG – that I think concerned many nul-sec players – whether CCP has a handle on CAP ship engagements or not … this too was not really handled well, CCP just stonewalled all questions in regards to the erroneous statements being made by the original dev Nozh.

Anyway – gratz again and hope you enjoy your seat on CSM. Interesting times to be had.

Two things.

1. Voter turn-out. Hopefully this CSM will do more to make CSM part of the game rather than something external.

I’ve always found it amusing that the game has a race that is corporate run (Caldari) and a race that is heavily involved in the entertainment industry (Gallente), but in-game marketing/advertising is extremely subdued, if non-existent. Not even a ticker in stations. If there was actual advertising in-game, and by extension CSM advertising, I would be willing to bet voter turn-out would be higher.

Low involvement in Eve events, corporations, organizations, and player-made services points to the fact that knowledge of such things comes by word-of-mouth. Several people in my corp hadn’t even heard of CSM when I mentioned that it was the last day for voting.

2. Local. Fix it. Seeing you and a few others who have expressed their desire to have local changed elected to CSM leaves me hopeful that such a change may eventually happen.

I will concur with the above posters:
1) Take the voter turn out seriously but don’t make your efforts in that regard a higher priority than the platform you ran on.
2) I voted for you because of your stance on LOCAL. Please push for CCP to change Local. I would personally like to see WSpace local everywhere but any shift in that direction would be a welcome one.
3) Great job. Good Luck. See you in Iceland next year.

I largely agree with Dante and think that CSM should be raising the issue of communication to CCP. Not only with regard to the pre-patch snafu that was the Cap changes but also with regard to their support of the CSM. They need to be more open in their acknowledgment about what things have been born through the work of the CSM in order to both support and highlight to players a) that the CSM is working and b) that new players get visibility on the CSM directly from CCP. Anything less is nothing less than being a passive supporter of the demise of the CSM, because lets face it there’s only so much that the CSM can say they’ve been involved in (to varying degrees of acceptance) but it’s more likely that if CCP are clear (read: not the corporate bullshit in the CSM’s involvement that people will get behind the CSM.

Personally having taken such an interest in this CSM in order to help the voter turnout, I’m a little disappointed by the result. Having said this though both of the candidates I voted for got in (you and Song Li).

W.r.t to Local, it should be limited to low sec and 0.0 so as to not freak out newbies but also a population count is a must (otherwise you won’t know if you’re talking to yourself or if there’s atleast someone listening :-)) plus it’s a nice wow factor to watch as you see local climb to 600+ during a major fleet engagement :-).
